BCBG Brings in Bush, Snow and Simpson

Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow, Ashlee Simpson

So much for my meticulous packing. I arrived in New York last night but my luggage did not. Thankfully, a fellow party girl was happy to lend me a gray dress and a pair of Manolos. Looks like my tootsies will just have to abide by the "fashion is pain" rule today!

Despite my cabby's decision to give me an unsolicited tour of the city, (turns out I was lucky to get a ride), I manage to make it to Bryant Park early enough to secure a seat at the BCBG show. Empty seats reading "Ciara," "Ashlee Simpson," "Donald Trump" and "Trump Guest" wait for their occupants, while New York socialites display their protruding bones for eager photographers.

America's Next Top Model
resident camera hottie Nigel Barker isn't snapping, though. Instead of getting behind the lens, he's surveying the catwalk for future inspiration. "What I'm looking at is what would photograph fantastically," he tells me in his yummy British accent. "I'm looking for the colors. I'm looking for the contrast. I'm looking for the way designers are putting looks together. They give you ideas." Wonder if he'll use looks from the show in the next season of ANTM?

Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow

A few seats over from Barker, Brittany Snow is superexcited to see Sophia Bush. "Omigod, I just texted you!" Brit exclaims, midhug, to her brunette pal. I love seeing these young girls out of their cazh Hollywood duds and in sophisticated NYC fashion. Though they look cute in jeans, the two truly sparkle in their black BCBG dresses. And it's a nice show of support for the designer.

"They're the most wonderful people," Sophia tells me of BCBG designer Max Azria and his family. "To see people who have success at this kind of level but are down to earth, kind and generous is so wonderful. So, I really love coming to support them. And it's great because I love the clothes—it's a win-win situation."

Sophia has won me over, because she's actually talking to the press despite her Demi Moore-esque raspy voice. "I lost it a couple weeks ago, and I just won't shut up," she laughs. Hopefully her vocal cords will get the relief they need before Friday, when she leaves NYC and returns to work on One Tree Hill.

After the Trumps (Donald Jr. and wife Vanessa, not the Donald) take their seats, Ashlee Simpson sneaks in with mom Tina and the show begins—only 30 minutes late. Not bad by Fashion Week standards!

The skinniest models I've ever seen sashay down the runway in flirty feminine frocks. After the final strut, designer Max Azria steps out as his daughter Marine gives her pops a standing O. They truly are a loving fam.
