Getting Smashed with Spooky Spirits

Charmed Cauldron

Last year, I headed to Sin City to bring you two deliciously ghoulish cocktails. This Halloween, the haunting libation selection has increased dramatically. After sifting through various orange, green and even black liquid creations, I’ve narrowed it down to three. So enjoy, but proceed carefully. We don't want any broomstick DUIs.

42 Below Charmed Cauldron (pictured above)

Cast a spell at your party with this ghastly colored punch made by the New Zealand vodka company, which has quickly become the booze du jour for stars like Jeremy Piven, Pete Wentz and Adrian Grenier.

1 part 42 Below Kiwi vodka
½ part melon liqueur
2 parts lemonade
2 parts pineapple juice
1 part freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 parts lemon-lime soda
Dash of green food coloring

Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl or cauldron. Stir well. Pour into tumblers filled with ice and garnish with a lemon wedge or Halloween accessory. Witch Doctor

Lucid's Witch Doctor

Surprise your guests with a drink made from the first legal absinthe in the U.S. in 95 years. Mena Suvari, Brody Jenner and Danny Masterson all sipped this green fairy at the Back Room in NYC. Serve it up with some bitters.

Hint: When you see start seeing little women in pointy black hats, it's time to stop drinking.

1 part Lucid
1 part sugared water
1 part grenadine
2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters

Pour Lucid in a shot glass. Add ice-cold water that has been shaken with sugar or simple syrup.  Then add grenadine and float the dashes of bitters on top. Pumpkin Martini

Absolut 100 Pumpkin Martini

The only club where you’ll find this drink is Miami hot spot Mokai, the destination for celebrities from Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo to Cuba Gooding Jr. But I’ve stolen the recipe, so you can bring the spicy heat home.

3 parts Absolut 100
½ part Hiram Walker Pumpkin Spice liqueur
Splash simple syrup

Combine all ingredients over ice and shake. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
