Intermix Hearts L.A.

I Heart LA

I rarely get this excited about a store opening, but Intermix is seriously one of my fave boutiques. It was my source for the cutest dresses when I lived in Miami, it helped build my winter wardrobe during my college years in Boston and it has always been a sure bet for last-minute party dresses when I'm in New York. Now, Intermix CEO Khajak Keledjian has finally decided to head west.

The opening of the Robertson boutique is pure chaos when I arrive—and it doesn't help that it's right across from paparazzi hunting ground the Ivy. Phoebe Price blinds me with her head-to-toe silver attire (she's so ending up on another worst-dressed list), Taryn Manning gets the sparkly look right with a shiny pair of Lia Sophia earrings and Pauly Shorewait, Pauly Shore? What is he doing here?!

Like the fusions in the trendy, classic and statement pieces on the racks, tonight's attendees are an eclectic mix. Just check out the highlights of my three hours at Intermix:

Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Lauren Conrad

Team Lauren:  Bolthouse Productions is running the door. Nightlife impresario Brent Bolthouse is deejaying inside. Hills watchers know that Heidi Montag just got a promotion at the club king's corporate office where she works, but tonight she's nowhere to be found.

Instead, Heidi's archnemesis Lauren "L.C." Conrad, in a ladylike AKA sheath, is stealing the spotlight with her Hills costars Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port. "I love mixing high-end and affordable pieces," L.C. tells me. "You can get a Stella McCartney skirt and pair it with a tank from Target. It's all about mixing and matching." Maybe she can save Molly Sims a buck or two with that advice. The Las Vegas star has poured Balenciaga and Chanel all over her enviable bod. Mix it up, girl!

Warning! Don't let the photo confuse you: Whitney has not pulled a Kelly Osbourne—it's just the store's lighting. Lisa Love would never okay pink hair.

Nicky Hilton, Bijou Phillips

Shrinking Socialite:  "Omigod, Nicky is sooo skinny!" declares a size-zero guest. Indeed, the Hilton sis, wearing a top from her fashion label, Nicholai, appears to have lost a pound or two—or 10! At the Hornitos launch, the younger heiress told me she's working on her second line for Nicholai. Could all that designing work have caused so much weight loss? Maybe it's time to pick up a needle and thread?!

Nicky sure seems to have rekindled her friendship with Bijou Phillips. They used to be inseparable, from causing ruckuses with Paris in Malibu to dancing up storms in NYC. When Bijou started getting serious with Danny Masterson, the friendship cooled off, but I'm thrilled it's heating up again. After all, with Lindsay Lohan still in rehab, someone needs to step up to the crazy-club-kid plate!

Rebecca Gayheart

Double Booking:  Intermix isn't the only L.A. store opening tonight. Southern handbag and shoe designer Mary Norton is celebrating her Melrose Place boutique's grand opening. I wanted to stop by, especially since the exclusive Moonlight and Magnolias shopping event benefits Lupus L.A., but I can't be in two places at once, right? Rebecca Gayheart proves me wrong. Eric Dane's wifey not only cohosted Norton's charitable celebration, but she managed to stomp her stilettos over to Intermix as well. Impressive!

Kim Kardashian, Robert Kardashian Jr.

Booty Call:  With E!'s new reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians (premiering Oct. 14) still in production, Kim Kardashian tells me she's helping her little bro Robert Jr. prep for more filming by bringing him along tonight to illustrate what "crazy Hollywood life is like."

But the real craziness is Kim's booty. It just keeps getting bigger and perkier. "It's the high-waisted jeans," she reveals. "They show off that I have a small waist, then a big butt." She turns around and gives me a view. I can't wait to recount my tale of the tail to one of my coworkers, who's developed a serious butt crush on the voluptuous vixen.

Alexis Pheiffer, Kanye West

Graduation, Indeed:  Yes, Kanye West sold a ridiculous amount of albums, but I was turned off by the rapper's blatant self-promotion on Emmy night. Thankfully, Kanye's making up for his ego overload. When he arrives at Intermix, cameras are all over him—the photogs even forget about the Hills girls, who wait at the valet, flash free! Kanye's polite; he answers questions but tries to deflect all attention to his stylist sweetie, Alexis Pfeiffer. Is the rapper's love life graduating to the next level? We'll just have to wait and see.
