What are the hot makeup trends right now over in the States? It's winter right now by me, and I want to bring some heat back into Sydney!

This season it's all about a glowing face with green accents. From red carpet events to club openings, stars are keeping their faces fresh and highlighting their eyes with sea foam, emerald and jade.

Stila celebrity makeup artist Sarah Lucero says the ultimate summer look begins with exfoliated skin. Using a gentle scrub two to three times a week allows sunscreen and moisturizer to soak in better. Once the face is clean, switch from winter foundation to a sheer tinted moisturizer. "It looks fresh and feels weightless on the skin," Lucero says. She suggests Stila Sheer Color in medium, which works on nearly every skin tone.

Next, add a cream blush for a pop of color. After trying a few shades on your hand, Lucero says you'll discover what works best on your natural skin. If creams aren't your forte, Toni & Guy makeup artist Olivia Rice recommends using a light bronzer with a bit of shimmer to achieve a natural glow. My favorite is Too Faced's Pink Leopard Bronzer, which is packaged so adorably there's no shame in whipping it out to freshen up at a bash.

As for eyes, this summer is all about color. Both Rice and Lucero say colorful liner can easily transition your fresh look from a clambake to a dinner party. From Beyoncé to Maria Menounos, green has been the hue of choice. Tarte Cosmetics makes a wonderful creaseproof cream shadow called Lock & Roll in soft green.

If you're in a humid climate, though, Lucero recommends using only gel-based liner to avoid smearing. When I was in Miami, I used Stila's Smudge Pot in jade and stayed sparkly all night. If the thought of green makes you scream, the pot also comes in bronze, another sultry option for summer.
