He's gone, but he's certainly not forgotten.
Cory Monteith died in July 13, 2013, from a drug overdose, but his then-girlfriend and Glee co-star, Lea Michele, is making him a part of her forever. The Scream Queens star debuted a new tattoo on Instagram Tuesday morning. She chose to have the number 5 tattooed onto her body.
"And one more...for my Quarterback...#5," she captioned the pic. The number 5 refers to Monteith's Glee character's football jersey number. Finn Hudson was the quarterback of the school's football team, making him a leader both on the field and off. Lea opened up about her grief on The Ellen DeGeneres show, explaining how she was able to move on in the wake of her boyfriend's sudden passing.
"There is an empowerment that comes with grief—at some point you find it," the actress explained in 2013. "It's very hard but you will find it, and I think at a certain point you can choose to sort of fall from this or you can choose to rise. And that's what I'm just trying to do my best for him, because I know that that's what he would have [wanted]."
Eventually Lea started over with Matthew Paetz, but the couple called it quits earlier this year.
Michele also showed off another tattoo she received this week. The singer-actress had a coffee mug tattooed onto her finger in honor of her grandmother who passed away.
"I lost my beautiful grandma this week.. She wasn't your typical grandma. She gave me my first cup of coffee when I was 8 years old," she captioned the picture of her new ink. "She said something inappropriate to every boyfriend I've ever had. She never made pie or knit me a sweater. But she was my grandma and I loved her... More than anything.. I love you Grandma. @prospect_tattoos Bronx NY."
Although this week must have been incredibly difficult for Lea, it appears she's handling everything incredibly well. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.
