Salma Hayek wants to know exactly what happened to her beloved dog.

Just a few days after the actress revealed to fans that her German Shepard mix Mozart was shot to death in Washington, the animal lover is speaking out and thanking fans for their love.

"Thank you to the press and my fans for all your support," she said in a statement to E! News. "I am very touched that you are eager to hear from me regarding the death of my beloved dog, Mozart. I assure I am just as eager to speak about this, and I will in time, once I have gathered more information about what has happened."

Salma also went to Instagram where she added, "I am very moved by all your stories you have shared with me in regards of Mozart's death. I am trying to figure out a way to use technology so we can have a chat and shares my feelings with you."

So what do we know as of today? According to Thurston County police officials in Washington, a caretaker for Salma's animals went for a horseback ride along with a few dogs on Feb. 19. At the end of a road, the animals took off running towards the sounds of other dogs barking on a nearby property.

While the caretaker was able to regroup most of the dogs, Mozart ventured off a different path and went missing. After searching for the pet, the caretaker found Mozart deceased on a trail.

On Feb. 28, police made contact with a neighbor who admitted to shooting at one of the dogs with his pellet gun.

Authorities say the neighbor was "not aware that the dog had actually [been] struck because the dog kept running after [the neighbor] fired the one shot." The case has since been forwarded to the Thurston County Prosecutors for their review.

While Salma waits for more answers on what really happened, the A-list star is remembering her dog as a caring friend who never hurt anyone.

"I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone," she shared on Instagram. "He loved his territory and never strayed away...he was the most loving and loyal companion."

She added, "He didn't deserve a slow and painful death. #doglover #animalrights #dog #dogoftheday #rip #delivery #washingtonstateauthorities."
