J.K. Rowling Teases Fans With Twitter Riddle: See Harry Potter Fans' Guesses!

Can you solve the mystery behind the author's message?

UPDATE: After much debate and some creative thinking, one Twitter follower has solved the riddle!

One fan tweeted, "@jk_rowling Newt Scamander only meant to stay in New York for a few hours... #anagram." Turns out she was spot on. "YES!!!!!!!!!!!! People, we have a winner!" Rowling replied!

J.K. Rowling has used a few clever tweets to send Harry Potter fans into a frenzy!

Last night, the 49-year-old author innocently shared on Twitter, "Very busy at the moment working on a novel, tweaking a screenplay and being involved in @lumos campaigns. Back when I've finished something!"

One fan replied, "Everytime @jk_rowling tweets I stop what ever I'm doing and analyze it for an hour," to which Rowling replied, ".@peruseproject See, now I'm tempted to post a riddle or an anagram. Must resist temptation... must work..."

Several hours later, Rowling offered up her riddle. "Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won't tolerate this nonsense," she teased, followed by, "Something to ponder while I'm away X."

That's when Harry Potter fans began guessing the answer to the riddle and offering up clues. Rowling retweeted one fan's guess: ".@jk_rowling's cryptic tweet, 'Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry!' is clearly an anagram meant to warn us that her ‘fur work canoe may fray.' Duh."

Another fan rearranged the letters of Rowling's anagram to spell, "Newt Scamander's History of New York Fauna: One town, my tale." Rowling seemed to confirm that this guess is correct by writing, "Warmer."

Further proof that Rowling's riddle is about her upcoming Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them comes in the form of her answer to another fan's tweet: " @jk_rowling is this the start of the film?" one person asked and Rowling replied, ".@VikiCarter_ Much warmer."

Rowling's final tweet on the subject reads, "#helpfulhint The solution is the first sentence of a synopsis of Newt's story. It isn't part of the script, but sets the scene."
