Talk to him.

Or at least that's what Robert Downey Jr. encouraged the twitterverse to do this afternoon in his first-ever tweet today, which came with a photo of the Iron Man star holding a sign bearing his easy-to-remember, verified Twitter handle.

"Talk to me, Twitter," he wrote after setting up his account with a self-assured bio reading, "You know who I am."

And with that, let the epic wordplay begin! (Just so you know, RDJ, we're expecting a lot from you.)

While The Avengers and two Iron Man sequels certainly didn't seem miss the boost from a star with a wider social media presence, Downey does have a new, somewhat smaller film coming out soon—and what movie couldn't use a box-office bump these days?!

"You wanted him, you got him. Ladies and gentlemen, give a big #FF to @RobertDowneyJr#chef," tweeted Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man and RDJ's latest, Chef. "Show him some love!"

Mission accomplished. Less than two hours ago, Downey had 18,000 followers, not too shabby for a beginner.

Right this second, he has 324,000 (and will surely have more by the time you check in on him).

"@Jon_Favreau thx for the intro," Downey tweeted back, obviously already adept at how the whole thing works.
