Jackson Lee Davis/SHOWTIMEHomeland is trading in the CIA offices for the Middle East. The hit Showtime drama is heading to South Africa. The network announced season four of the Emmy-winning series will film in Cape Town, South Africa (which, presumably, will stand in for the Middle East).
"We've been so lucky to work with one of the best crews in the business for the last three seasons in Charlotte," Homeland showrunner and executive producer Alex Gansa said in a statement. "We knew going into season four that we would need to move the production overseas to tell the story of Carrie returning to the Middle East as chief of station. We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground."
The new season of Homeland will find Carrie (Emmy winner Claire Danes) assigned to a volatile and dangerous CIA station in the Middle East. She's back on the front lines in the war on terror after the events of the first three seasons.
Mandy Patinkin returns as Carrie's mentor Saul Berenson for the new episodes after he and Carrie saved the day in the third season. Rupert Friend and Nazanin Boniadi will also return for the fourth season. Following the events of the third season, Emmy winner Damian Lewis will not return as Brody.
Homeland will begin production in June and shoot through November with a fourth season set to premiere this fall on Showtime.
