Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Suit: 2005 Child Sex Abuse Trial May Be Revisited

Judge ruled AEG Live could raise the singer's molestation trial as part of their defense

And the Michael Jackson wrongful death suit takes an unexpected turn.

After the Jackson family received the green light for their lawsuit against AEG Live to proceed to trial next month, a Los Angeles judge has now reportedly ruled the pop icon's trial and acquittal on child sex abuse charges from 2005 may be revisited in the civil suit. 

Katherine Jackson, as well as Michael's children Prince, Paris and Blanket are currently suing AEG Live and director Kenny Ortega for the wrongful death of the late performer, claiming the event promoter company showed negligence in the hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray which ultimately led to the iconic singer's passing. 

Per Reuters, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos ruled Thursday that attorneys for AEG Live could use Jackson's molestation trial as part of their defense in the testimony as it may be relevant to the pop star's battle with drug abuse.  

Katherine Jackson, as well as Michael's oldest children, 16-year-old Prince and 14-year-old Paris, are all expected to testify in the case. Murray, who is not named in the suit, could also be brought to court. 

The judge ruled jury selection will begin April 2 and anticipated a three-month trial.

Jackson died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication after suffering cardiac arrest in 2009. 

Murray, the singer's personal physician, was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
