UPDATE: Judge Beckloff ruled that Joe Jackson did not have legal standing to contest the administrators of his late son's estate and cleared the way for John Branca and John McClain to be officially appointed executors of the Jackson fortune.

Katherine Jackson's attorney, Adam Streisand, said after court that he does not believe Joe has any legal claim to an allowance from the estate since he was not provided for in the will.

UPDATE 2: Joe got the appeal process rolling the following Monday, claiming that his son never signed his own will and continuing his bid to have Johns McClain and Branca tossed as executors.

When it comes to divvying up Michael Jackson's fortune, Katherine Jackson is getting paid and is happy. Joe Jackson on the other hand...

The King of Pop's mom and dad are on opposite sides of the fence now in the battle over the estate, as Katherine today dropped her beef  with the executors overseeing her son's riches, while Joe fought for his own big chunk.

Katherine's attorney, Adam Streisand, has confirmed that the Jackson family matriarch opted to withdraw her objections to the administrators, Michael's longtime attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, after deciding a legal battle wasn't in the best interest of the Gloved One's three children. Streisand did indicate that Katherine still felt she deserved a bigger say in how the estate was being handled, however.

But Joe has no qualms about stirring the pot.

A Los Angeles court is currently reviewing his 60-page petition seeking a handout from the entertainer's estate.

Michael omitted Joe from his will. Instead, he instructed that a sizable portion of his multimillion-dollar earnings should go toward supporting his beloved mother, kids and several children's charities.

Joe, who had a difficult relationship with his late son, is trying to get an allowance to help him cover living expenses in excess of $20,000 a month—a shade less than the $26,000 Katherine pockets. Joe, who lives in Las Vegas while the rest of the family resides in Southern California, says despite their estrangement, he had received monetary support from Michael.

The elder Jackson also accuses Branca and McClain of fraud and conflict of interest and claims that the version of Michael's will entered into probate is not legal because Michael didn't sign it. (Sources familiar with the document say the star did indeed sign the will, but in New York, not in Los Angeles as indicated in the paperwork.)

Branca and McClain will continue to strike deals on behalf of the Moonwalker's estate (see the This Is It  movie and soundtrack) until Judge Mitchell Beckloff formalizes their appointments. That won't take place, however, until the court rules on whether Joe has any legitimate gripes.
