Ariana Grande is back on the market.
E! News can confirm the 23-year-old singer and her boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez, have called it quits after a year.
A source tells us, "She broke up with him. He didn't cheat or anything, they just found it difficult to make it work. They are still friends though."
The insider also added that she is "happy to be single and do her for a little while."
Grande and the backup dancer were first linked last summer when the infamous video of her licking a doughnut was released to the public. Aside from the doughnut-gate scandal, the surveillance also showed the duo kissing.
A little more than a month later, another insider told us Grande was "happier" than ever. "She and Ricky have gotten pretty close and they are officially a couple," the source said at the time. "They are keeping their relationship on the down low though and trying to be as private as they can."
Our source also dished that the "way the two act around each other is very affectionate. You can tell Ricky really cares about her."
However, it appears Grande was ready for change as she took to Twitter, seemingly hinting at the split. "Life is wild," she tweeted before adding, "and change is f--king fantastic."
She also deleted all of her Instagram posts regarding her former beau.
Grande definitely knows how to handle a breakup at this point, having split from Big Sean in 2015 and Jai Brooks in 2014. In fact, regarding her split from the rapper last year, Grande admitted it "wasn't that hard."
"I'm good at making the best out of something," she told V magazine. "It also wasn't that hard for me, because we were friends. So it's chill."
It looks like she's already started to make the best out of her split from Ricky, too, spending time with friends and even getting a new haircut.
