Well, not exactly. It seems stars like Rosario Dawson, Eva Longoria and Doutzen Kroes have been raising their rules on just how high a dress slight can go at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
And they've paid the price. Eva and Rosario both flashed way more than they wanted to on the red carpet. That's not to say all sexy slights were disasters. Doutzen and Freida Pinto flaunted their long legs, and just their long legs.
Slits certainly aren't new, by no means, but there's no denying they are currently dominating the French fete.
Then again, in lue of wearing a mini shirt (which is not an option on the formal night time carpet) a slit is the ideal way to display your gams. "This trend is a great way to show some skin, whilst keeping it classy," says celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson.
We'd just suggest there be enough fabric to cover the upper thighs. And of course, mastering the Angelina Jolie leg.
