Breaking Dawn Part 2 director Bill Condon has broken his silence regarding the whole Robsten cheating scandal.

While chatting it up with Entertainment Weekly, which features Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart getting all cozy on its latest cover (OK, technically, it's Edward and Bella, but still, awkward!), the filmmaker shares his thoughts on the recent relationship drama that's been surrounding the two costars.

See Rupert Sanders and wife Liberty Ross out together for first time since cheating scandal

"The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it's not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that," Condon tells the magazine. "Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it's time that some of that respect be returned to them."

Meanwhile, Pattinson, who has been keeping an extremely low profile since news broke that his significant other had a fling with married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, will finally be heard from when he stops by Good Morning America on Aug. 15.

Sure, he'll be there to plug his upcoming flick Cosmopolis, but we're guessing that won't be the real reason fans check out the appearance.

Stay tuned. We know we're going to.
