Just how bad were the injuries sustained by Reese Witherspoon after getting hit by a car last week? From the looks of things, pretty bad. And painful.

Reese was seen in public today for the first time since her horrifying accident, and made no attempt to cover up her massive black eye, bruised face and leg and bandaged forehead, all of which appeared to be still fresh even now, a full six days after she was taken to the hospital after getting struck by an 84-year-old driver.

As for what prompted Reese off her recovery bed and out in public…

The mother-of-two was clearly doing her best to get into a celebratory mood, as she was seen carrying a bundle of gifts to her car with the assistance of a female pal—it's unclear whose party she was attending, though her own daughter, Ava, celebrated her 12th birthday last Friday, just days after the accident. Perhaps a belated get-together?

In any case, Reese's rep has already said that the 35-year-old Oscar winner won't be pressing charges against the senior who failed to yield to the jogging actress and ran through an unmarked crosswalk, taking Witherspoon down.

While Reese was first taken to a hospital after the run-in, she was quickly discharged, and said to be "resting comfortably at home."

Glad to see you out and about, Reese! Here's to a speedy recovery.
