FlynetAmber Portwood and Gary Shirley may not be a perfect couple, but they make quite the pair.
Shirley was picked up for driving with a suspended license last night while his baby mama was in the passenger seat, and today Portwood explained exclusively to E! News what went down—and why the two of them were out so late.
"We were bored and had nothing else to do," the Teen Mom star joked.
And?
"We were in Ellis, Ind., because we were driving around looking for apartments for me to move into," Portwood said. "We had pulled over on the side of the road in front of this one place. We were like the only car on the road and it was late, and the police station was right across the street.
"So, of course the cop came over and asked us what was going on. But we were not fighting. Gary and I haven't had a major fight in two years."
If her timeline holds up, at least now we know that the blowup that got Portwood busted for battery wasn't a "major fight."
But overall, she and Shirley are slowly but surely figuring things out, including what's best for daughter Leah right now.
"Our goal was always to switch custody over to Gary so that I can focus on and deal with my legal s--t," Portwood said. "She's with her father now so I can get through all of my legal issues and hopefully we can be a proper family."
She also has a message for the haters out there (and there are a few).
"They can call me a bitch," Portwood concluded. "I am a bitch. I'm one way with haters, but I'm another person when I'm with my daughter."
Again, good to know.
