Universal Pictures has reportedly struck a deal with Mattel to make a series of live action movies based on Barbie. Following the success of Transformers and G.I. Joe, Universal thinks they'll score by making movies centering on yet another plastic doll. But as opposed to those action movies, the Barbie movies will be more of a "romantic comedy." This is stupid. I have a hard enough time sitting through romantic comedies watching couples do ridiculous s--t that they would never do in real life. I don't now need to see some creepy giant Barbie doll wandering the streets of Manhattan drinking cosmos and looking for Mr. Right…especially since I already know she ends up with Ken. Somebody make a movie out of that doll that pees or dumps. That I'll go see.
