8 Mile's Brittany Murphy and I Am Sam's Dakota Fanning are two of the more likable and capable young actresses around these days, so why are they slumming it uptown? In this meandering mess, Murphy stars as a childish adult whose family fortune is stolen, so she takes a job as nanny for neurotically mature adultish child Fanning. But while this leads to some funny moments, some touching moments and some warm interplay between the Girls' gals, the movie never seems to come together.
Instead, it's really just a pastiche of scenes, most which aren't interesting. It also suffers from some terribly obvious setups, some out-of-left-field cameos by Dave Navarro and Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath and, well, there's a pig in it, too.
