Filmmaker-actor Edward Burns takes a casual stroll back to his better Brothers McMullen days with this quirky romantic comedy. Centered around cosmopolitan bachelor Burns, who falls for video-store crush Rosario Dawson, Sidewalks follows six intertwining love stories on the streets of a Woody Allen-ish New York. The film's low-key pace and mockumentary interviews give it plenty of charm, even if the nonacting actors (the whole thing was filmed in 17 days) make for some sluggish moments.
Peaks of pointed and witty dialogue and hilarious bits with Dennis Farina as a too tan playboy stand out as this romantic round-robin eventually ambles together nicely in the end. Worth a visit.
