Seabiscuit

Even if you don't know the difference between a trifecta and daily double, Seabiscuit crosses the finish line as one of the best sports films of the past 10 years. Like Rocky with hooves, this tale is all about the underdog whose enormous heart wins in the end. Actually, it's about four underdogs--the titular horse, the entrepreneurial owner (a solid Jeff Bridges), the loner trainer (a gently great Chris Cooper) and the troubled rider (a full-ranged Toby Maguire).
While Hollywood takes some sappy liberties with Laura Hillenbrand's bestselling book, the racing scenes are hold-your-breath good, and comedic interludes by godsend William H. Macy, as a wacky sportscaster, break up the heaviness. On and off the track, this one's a winna!
