Mulder makes romantic: heart-to-heart or heart to watch? Thankfully, this flick is mostly the former. Duchovny stars as a construction mogul married to the ideal wife (Richardson), a zookeeper building a new habitat for her simian subjects. Tragedy takes her life, and her heart is transplanted into Driver. A twist of fate--a blind date at an Irish-Italian restaurant--throws Duchovny and Driver, a waitress, together.
Romance and miscommunication ensue. Everything about the film is maudlin and heavy-handed--yet despite that and some odd pacing, it hits the right marks. The leads are likable and (mostly) aren't upstaged by the monkeyshines. Actually, it's the old codgers (led by O'Connor and Loggia) who steal the show with their brassy antics.
