Masked and Anonymous

The times, they are a-changin'...and for the long list of talented actors here, it's not a change for the good. This bloated and boring flick is so poorly done, you'll wonder why so many big names--including Jessica Lange, Jeff Bridges, Angela Bassett, Val Kilmer, Penélope Cruz and Bob Dylan--show their faces in Anonymous. Dylan plays an inmate in a war-ravaged country who's asked to headline a benefit concert.
Only the proceeds aren't going to the starving citizens, they're lining the pockets of the greedy producers. It doesn't matter what happens anyway, since this big-screen debut from director Larry Charles (Seinfeld) is made unwatchable by an inane script, a bland look and highfalutin sense of itself. If you're a Dylan fan, the music rises to the occasion--but please spare your eyes the pain and just buy the soundtrack for that.
