Le Divorce

The words contemporary and Merchant Ivory usually don't go together, but Le Divorce's affairs of zee heart bring the classy filmmakers up-to-date nicely. Naomi Watts lives in Paris and is married to the heir of a stinkin'-rich family. But when he abandons her and their daughter (and another bébé on the way!), sis Kate Hudson gives her a shoulder to cry on.
Well, when she's not under the covers with the uncle of the philandering husband, that is. It's a delicious, complex comedy that, like a good Napoleon, is easy to digest. Director James Ivory keeps the story breezing along, and veterans Glenn Close, Sam Waterston and Stockard Channing add even more class.
