Ghosts of the Abyss

King of the World James Cameron goes to the bottom of the ocean in this informative--and entertaining--documentary about a subject he knows all too well: The Titanic. And since he is the blockbuster director behind Titanic and the Terminator series, he does it up right. He gussies up the large-format movie by making it 3-D, incorporating snazzy graphics and inviting Bill Paxton along with the team of scientists, deep-sea explorers and Titanic historians.
As the crews take tiny subs to film the wreckage, a nervous Paxton offers some humor, while computer-aided recreations and historic tales put things in perspective and add a human touch. The 3-D effect is totally cool, but overall, it's unnecessary--this dive's content is already deep enough.
