Casa de Los Babys

Those who love a good action movie would be bored to tears at a John Sayles film. Their loss. Few filmmakers today love the written word as much as Sayles--who writes everything he directs--and he flexes his lit muscles here. Casa brings home the story of six American women in a Latin American hotel who are waiting to adopt a baby and bond over, well, a bunch of baby talk.
The wide-ranging characters--which include Maggie Gyllenhaal, Daryl Hannah and Marcia Gay Harden--deliver distinctive performances and back up Sayles' wordy style with emotional depth. While it may not be up there with Sayles' gems (Matewan and Sunshine State, for instance), Casa is a worthwhile therapy session that all genders can enjoy.
