Set in present-day L.A., this so-so romantic comedy finds Fraser as a modern-day Adam. He's spent the last 35 years in an underground bomb shelter with his commie-paranoid parents, played to cracked perfection by Walken and Spacek. Horrified by the modern world, the folks beat a hasty re-retreat below, leaving Fraser with two instructions: Get supplies for the next 35 years, and find a nice wife.
Instead, he meets Silverstone's Eve, a foul-mouthed cutie with a good heart. No groundbreaking realizations here, and the whole thing should have been sharper, but at least true love does win out.
