Francophiles and lovers of schmaltzy piano jazz will get a kick out of this stylish love story. With a couple of improbable disguises at his disposal, Jeremy Irons plays a jewel thief and first-timer Patricia Kaas plays a mysterious chanteuse. Thing is, they both suffer from amnesia. But they remember to fall in love. While a few too many flashback scenes get the film off to a shaky start, director Claude Lelouch (A Man and a Woman) ends up filling the screen with a gorgeous Moroccan setting, a nice love story and just about every cheesy French pop song ever recorded.
And after slumming it in movies like The Time Machine, Irons shows off some top-shelf charm. So much so that he just might steal your heart, too.
