The Missing

Something's missing. Even though this film is packed with everything from slave traders to voodoo dancing, it's sorely lacking in heart and soul. The latest from Oscar-winning director Ron Howard takes place in the Old West and focuses on frontier doctor Cate Blanchett, whose daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) is abducted by Apaches. With the help of Blanchett's tracker dad Tommy Lee Jones--does this man ever play anything but guys giving chase?--they go on a hunt.
The film features all sorts of cat-and-mouse intrigue, but it never really gets you to care about what's going on. And it doesn't take a beautiful mind to know that can really hurt a movie.
