Conceived by executive producer Steven Speilberg's Shoah Foundation, this powerful documentary chronicles the tragic circumstances of six Hungarian Holocaust survivors. Through moving testimony, the film details the closing days of the Second World War, when the Germans--who were losing the war--invaded Hungary and engaged valuable resources to carry out the Final Solution, the extermination of the Jewish race.
Two of the six survivors featured--both women--were shipped off to Auschwitz, where they endured unspeakable horrors at the now notorious concentration camp. There's testimony from a Nazi doctor and U.S. Congressman Tom Lantos, who was a teenager in Hungary at the time of the invasion. Director Moll does a superb job intercutting interviews with disturbing, newly discovered archival footage.
