Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter Maddie Aldridge is headed home after suffering serious injuries in an ATV accident.

The 8-year-old was released from a hospital and left with her family via helicopter. Jamie Lynn and her husband Jamie Watson, Maddie's stepfather, revealed the news Friday on Instagram, alongside a photo showing the child sitting in the aircraft and smiling, with her mom standing by front of the open door and smiling as well.

"Thanks to the amazing first responders, and medical teams at University and Children's Hospital in New Orleans, LA, we are headed home with our baby girl as she continues to recover," the couple wrote. "Above all else we are so thankful for each and every prayer, because we know that is what truly made the difference. Thank you again to everyone. We are truly blessed."

Earlier, Maddie was spotted walking out of the hospital while holding Jamie Lynn's hand.

"The fact she walked/is walking is amazing," Dr. David Poulad from IGEA Brain and Spine, who did not treat the child, told E! News. "Walking involves so many higher circuits of brain function to perform, and for all that to function means she's doing remarkably well. The fact she's a very young person plays in her favor."

Maddie was riding in an ATV in Kentwood, La. Sunday when it flipped over into a pond. She was reportedly submerged under water for several minutes and unconscious before being airlifted to the hospital.

On Tuesday, a family rep released a statement saying Maddie was "awake and talking."

"Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident," the statement said.

Her aunt Britney Spears said on Instagram Wednesday the little girl was "making progress," adding, "Thank you all for sending thoughts and prayers our way. Let's all keep praying."

On Friday, she thanked fans for their support.

"Grateful that Maddie was able to go home today... it's truly a miracle. Our prayers were heard, and they were answered!" Britney wrote. "Thank you so much for all of your love and support this week. My family appreciates it more than you will ever know."
