When the 2017 Golden Globes Awards nominations were announced Monday, many immediately noticed the amount of snubs and surprises there were. E! News argued that in addition to there being too much TV to nominate everyone, it's also difficult to make the cut when iconic movie stars are successfully transitioning into TV.
But then the 2017 SAG Awards nominees were announced Wednesday, and it became immediately clear that what the Hollywood Foreign Press Association lacked at the Golden Globes would be made up for by SAG-AFTRA at the SAG Awards. What was snubbed by the HFPA was honored by the SAG Awards, although there are some shows still being honored that we thought were out of the running by now—looking at you, Downton Abbey.
