Ben Affleck has nothing but love and positive words for his ex, Jennifer Garner.
The actor sat down for Times Talk at New York University's Skirball Center for Performing Arts on Monday and chatted with NY Times journalist Chip McGrath. Affleck spoke in depth about his career, his various movie choices—including his most recent film, Live by Night, which he wrote, produced, directed and starred in—and all of his successes.
But despite two Oscars and multiple accolades for his films, his greatest success is still his three children, Violet, Samuel and Seraphina.
"In my career or otherwise, it is the birth of my children," he said when asked about his biggest accomplishment. "The entrance of my children into the world."
He continued, "It's a joy to hang out with them. I think the meaning of life is to make good people."
Luckily, he has some solid help when it comes to raising his children to be good people, noting that Garner is the "greatest mom in the world" and further proving his love for her is never-ending.
Despite splitting up in 2015, Affleck has continued to praise Garner.
While talking with E! News in March, the actor told us, "Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother and I'm really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that's what we do."
Garner has reciprocated that sentiment, explaining that she and Affleck are "great friends," and admitting there's "no other choice" than to put the children first and co-parent as a team. "It has to be. You don't have a choice," she said in an interview in August. "It has to be."
Though their new normal might look unusual to some, she promised, "We're doing really well."
