Louis Tomlinson's mother would be so proud.

The One Direction artist returned to the stage just three days after saying goodbye to his mother, Johannah Deakin, who lost her battle with leukemia on Wednesday at the age of 42.

Tomlinson was joined by DJ Steve Aoki for their brand new collaboration "Just Hold On," which marks the 24-year-old's very first single as a solo artist. At the end of his performance, Louis was met with an incredible standing ovation and some kind words from former mentor and X Factor judge Simon Cowell

"What you've just done, and the bravery. I respect you as an artist and I respect you as a person. Your mom was so proud of you Louis; she was so looking forward to tonight," Cowell told Tomlinson, who was fighting back tears.

"She's watching down on you now and you've done her proud," Cowell added.
