While Mark Ballas may not have known who he was going to marry when he was 14 years old, he did know who was going to be his best man.

During an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show, Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough recalled how Ballas popped a different question all those years ago.

"He asked me 17 years ago to be his best man. We were 14 years old and so there was a lot of pressure actually," Hough told DeGeneres. "Luckily it went well...I've never been more nervous in my life though."

The wedding went off without a hitch as the dancer and his bride, singer-songwriter BC Jean, said "I Do" under an oak tree in Los Angeles on Friday. While we don't know what Hough exactly said during his nerve-wracking speech, he did give fans a taste of his prose on social media with a heartfelt message dedicated to his pal a few days later.

"Such an honor to be the best man at my brother's wedding. Witnessing their love be sealed under a beautiful oak tree in front of family friends was such a special moment," Derek wrote to his Instagram followers Sunday afternoon. "Like the tree, may you stand together tall and proud."

"May you always go out on a limb for one another to stay grounded and dig your roots in deep so that you may weather any storm," he continued. "And always continue to grow, stronger and higher reaching towards the heavens . And to always enjoy the view. Love you two."

While we dry our tears, Hough offered some other news that might get your attention—he's feeling the marriage itch, too.

"If you would have asked me about a year ago or two years ago, I probably [would have said], 'Nah, I'm not really looking,' but I'm kind of in that place now in my life—kind of a transition," he admitted to DeGeneres. "I see myself married with kids within the next five years."

So, does he have a lucky lady in mind? "Perhaps," he said coyly. "Maybe I am."
