Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened...

OK, yes we know that's totally cliché, but it's a quote that's definitely helped us see the light each time one of our favorite Disney channel couples calls it quits.

For example, yesterday E! News confirmed the (heartbreaking) news that Liv and Maddie stars Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan broke up just six months after getting engaged. While we're sad the celebrity couple is no longer, we can't help but appreciate the love-filled moments they gave us.

In fact, the news got us reminiscing on the other couples who met on the Disney Channel in the past and gave us all those similar feels. Check them out below:

9. Sabrina Carpenter and Bradley Steven Perry: People were constantly shipping The Girl Meets World star and former Good Luck Charlie actor for months before the finally made things Instagram official in May 2015. However, they called things off just three months later, and Carpenter has moved on with Corey Fogelmanis.

7. Bridgit Mendler and Shane Harper: After meeting on the set of Good Luck Charlie, the pair began dating in 2011. They were together for four years before eventually calling it quits in 2015.

Disney/ABC

6. Hilary Duff and Aaron Carter: We might be able to call them one of Disney's original young couples as the pair were romantically linked way back in 2001. They met on Lizzie McGuire when Duff (Lizzie) crashed Carter's music video for "I Want Candy." Unfortunately, they called it quits in 2002 after Carter allegedly cheated on Duff with Lindsay Lohan.

5. Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas: While many think the pair first met on Camp Rock, they actually met when Lovato auditioned for a role on Jonas. They didn't start dating until 2010—after Joe's relationship with Taylor Swift fizzled—but they were only together for a few months before deciding they're better off as friends.

4. Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas: Since we're on the topic of the Jonas Brothers, we might as well mention one of the most-talked about couples of 2008: Gomez and Nick. Yes, before she was hooked on Justin Bieber, the Wizards of Waverly Place star was connected to Nick briefly. They got together after his relationship with Miley Cyrus and thereby confirmed the two Disney princesses were definitely not friends.

Disney/ABC

3. Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan: After meeting on Liv and Maddie, Cameron and McCartan started dating in 2013. We rank them especially high because the pair actually got engaged in April 2016. Unfortunately, they called it quits in October.

Disney/ABC

2. Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas: Considering Cyrus was one of the most famous Disney stars due to Hannah Montana, her relationship with Nick—who co-starred with her on the show after they got together—was talked about quite a bit! They dated for a year between 2006 and 2007, but after they broke up (and Nick moved on with Gomez) Cyrus recorded "7 Things I Hate About You" and Nick released "Sorry" on a Jonas Brothers album.

Disney/ABC

1. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens: If there's one couple we still miss, it's Zanessa. The pair met while filming High School Musical and started dating in 2007. They were together for three years before calling it quits in 2010, and while that seems like a lifetime ago, we still find ourselves reminiscing on their cute romance.
