Watch: Allison Williams Has High Hopes for "Girls" Finale

RIP Marnie Michaels.

OK, calm down. Girls isn't killing off Allison Williams' character in the sixth and final season of the HBO hit, but Williams has officially said goodbye to the character after filming her final scene on Wednesday night, and she took to Instagram to commemorate the moment.

"Marnie has officially gone wherever all characters go when we stop watching them. And I couldn't feel luckier that I got to play her," Williams wrote, going on to praise co-star and creator Lena Dunham, the Hannah to her Marnie.

Allison Williams' Best Looks

Marnie has officially gone wherever all characters go when we stop watching them. And I couldn't feel luckier that I got to play her. This lady, @lenadunham, gave me everything. She gave me the most incredible challenges and adventures and the opportunity to know and love our GIRLS family. She also gave me her fierce friendship, wit, love, and loyalty, all while making me giggle on a constant basis. Sitting next to Lena while being directed by @jennikonner, it all felt completely right. Then I immediately burst into some pretty rare tears, because it hit me that I don't know what my adult life looks like without Girls. To everyone - our cast, our crew, HBO, my family - thank you. And to @juddapatow, thanks for watching a YouTube video of a 22 year-old fresh out of college and inviting her to audition for Marnie Marie Michaels. I've been grateful every single day since. #EndOfGirls #ThatsAWrapOnMarnie

We're not crying, you're crying! (OK, we confess: we're totally crying.)

But Williams wasn't done making us weepy just yet, as she also went on to thank Judd Apatow, who serves as an executive producer on the show.

Lena Dunham Says Goodbye to the Girls Set

Tonight we said goodbye to Allison Williams, aka Marnie Marie Michaels, aka the most talented, hard-working, generous, tireless, self-deprecating and delicious smelling woman I have ever known. Have you ever met someone who got a hand injury writing Thank You notes? Neither had I until Allison came along. From the moment we met her six years ago, we knew she would give everything to this character and she did. Her bravery, sense of adventure and tenacity has made every day with her an honor. Instead of sharing a pic of Allison as the inimitable Marnie I'm sharing this: from a hospital stay I had where Allison came and organized my entire room, fluffed my pillow, put roses everywhere, installed an Apple TV AND made sure I had a buttered bagel. That's the most important thing to know about this woman. Yes she's gorgeous. Yes she's funny as fuck. But you will never have a better friend and sister. We are so lucky. I love you, Al. #MarnieForever #endofGIRLS

As for Dunham, she also took to Instagram to praise Williams, calling her "the most talented, hard-working, generous, tireless, self-deprecating and delicious smelling woman I have ever known." She also posted about Williams taking care of her during a hospital stay.

Earlier on Wednesday, Williams posted her feelings on playing Marnie one last time, writing, "Today is my last day playing Marnie Michaels. Six years of passive aggression, folded arms and eye rolls...but also bravery, fierce protectiveness and ambition. I've loved you well, Marn."

After it was announced that season six would be Girls' final outing, Williams shared her thoughts on how she'd like Marnie's journey to end with E! News. "I'd love to see an act of love and selflessness from Marnie," Williams told us. "If I see that next season it'll be a victory and she'll have been utterly transformed. Those are really rare for her!"

Girls will return for its final season in early 2017 on HBO.
