Saturday Night Live Taps Alec Baldwin to Play Donald Trump

Longtime friend of the show Baldwin will take on the role in the season 42 premiere

Saturday Night Live is bringing out the big guns for season 42 and Donald Trump. Alec Baldwin will play the Republican presidential nominee will take on the role for the season 42 premiere on Saturday, Oct. 1. SNL made the announcement in a special YouTube video teasing their take on the big debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Margot Robbie is making her hosting debut with The Weeknd on board as the musical guest. Lin-Manuel Miranda will host the Saturday, Oct. 8 show with Twenty One Pilots serving as the musical guest.

Taran Killam and Darrell Hammond previously portrayed Trump on the NBC sketch series. Trump recently hosted an episode in season 41.

Saturday Night Live will return for its 42nd season with some new faces. Mikey Day, Alex Moffat, and Melissa Villaseñor have been added to the cast. Returning players include Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Leslie Jones, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson and Sasheer Zamata.

Saturday Night Live season 42 premieres Saturday, Oct. 1 on NBC.
