American Horror Story is back at it again. And by "it," we mean royally freaking us out.

The latest teaser to be released for the shrouded-in-secrecy season six is a potent reminder to never, ever take a walk down train tracks. Otherwise, you might encounter whatever the hell this creature is that Ryan Murphy and FX's marketing team have dreamt up to give us nightmares for the rest of our godforsaken lives. As freaky as whatever has come crawling out of "The Mist" here is, there's a very good chance that it's just one of many misdirects created by the network as they build up to the September premiere of the new season. Speaking with reporters at the 2016 Summer TCA Press Tour, FX president John Landgraf admitted that he, along with Murphy and marketing guru Stephanie Gibbons came up with the plan to keep the true nature of season six one heck of a mystery, complete with video teases created specifically to keeps fans guessing. "They went out and made many more trailers than you've actually seen for...different genres and different places," he teased. "I just love it on an artistic level. One of them is accurate, the others are all misdirects."

American Horror Story returns on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. on FX.
