UPDATE: A rep for the Metropolous family tells E! News the sale has not been called off. "Daren Metropoulos' purchase of the Playboy Mansion is moving forward as planned. Gossip reports suggesting the deal has fallen apart are simply untrue," the statement reads.

"Concluding this complicated transaction is clearly in the interest of the sellers as well as Mr. Metropoulos, who has worked to respect Mr. Hefner's wishes in this unusual situation, as both a neighbor and friend, and continues to look forward to serving as the next steward of this iconic property."

If you were cursing the real estate Gods for not being able to score the Playboy Mansion, it's your lucky day, because assuming you're ridiculously rich, the chance has presented itself yet again.

E! News has learned that although a buyer came forward to snag the $118 million property, the sale actually fell through, and now Hugh Hefner's famous digs are going back on the market come Monday.

While the details regarding what went wrong with the sale have not been confirmed, reports claim that the issue came from an issue with timing. Part of the deal was that Hefner would live out the rest of his years at the mansion, which became a bit of a speed bump for buyer Daren Metropoulos, who wanted to do renovations and work on the property.

In June, E! News confirmed the Los Angeles landmark found a buyer just a few months after it was put on the market for a whopping $200 million.

"We can confirm that the Playboy Mansion is in escrow with Daren Metropoulos as the buyer," Playboy said in a statement to E! News at the time. "Due to confidentiality restrictions, we are not able to comment on any specifics, including what contingencies need to be cleared to close the sale."

While that price tag may seem bonkers to many, it's no surprise the Hef wasn't going to let such a prestigious piece of real estate for anything less. Aside from its fame, both just in being the headquarters of the magazine and for it's television appearances, the actual property has a lot to offer.

The 20,000 square foot residence is described as an "ultra-private retreat and the ultimate setting for large-scale entertaining." And with 29 rooms, a home theater, swimming pool and an additional four-bedroom guest house, there is plenty of space for guests and visitors. Plus, we can't forget that grotto.

"This is the right time to seek a buyer for this incredible property who understands the role the Mansion has played for our brand and enables us to continue to reinvest in the transformation of our business," Playboy Enterprises CEO Scott Flanders said in a statement to E! News when the house was first put on the market.

"The Playboy Mansion has been a creative center for Hef as his residence and workplace for the past 40 years, as it will continue to be if the property is sold."
