Silverstone will play Bonnie Nolan in American Woman, Richards' TV Land pilot based around The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star's childhood. Richards and sister Kim Richards were child actors. Richards had a role on Little House on the Prairie and appeared in Halloween, among other credits from the 1970s.
The series takes place in the 1970s and follows Bonnie, a mom of two daughters, raising her family after leaving her husband. John Riggi of 30 Rock and The Comeback fame penned the script and will executive producer alongside ER's John Wells. Richards is on board as a co-executive producer.
Silverstone is known for her breakout role in Clueless and has given series TV a stab before with Miss Match, The Singles Table and Suburgatory. She also voiced the main character in the cartoon Braceface.
American Woman is just one of a few new shows in the works at TV Land. The network is also working on a TV remake of The First Wives Club starring Alyson Hannigan, Vanessa Lachey and Megan Hilty. The new version of the fan-favorite film takes place in San Francisco and follows three women, who were friends in the 1990s, as they reunite after a friend dies in an accident. Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler starred in the 1996 flick. The TV version hails from New Girl veteran Rebecca Addelman and The Big C's Jenny Bicks.
