Kerry Washington and Joe Morton's characters on Scandal might share a father-daughter relationship that can be described as dysfunctional at best, but off screen this duo is anything but.
The actress was on hand to support her TV dad as he headlines the Broadway play Turn Me Loose over the weekend, sending diehards of the Shondaland political drama into a frenzy upon their reunion.
Washington shared a selfie of the pair in a cheerful embrace on Instagram, which she captioned, "Last night I experienced a transformative night of theater. Went to see the extraordinary Joe Morton (AKA my Papa Pope) on stage as Dick Gregory in #TurnMeLoose & I was blown away by his performance and by the crazy resonance and timeliness of the material. Heartbreaking. Inspiring."
With season five's bombshell finale wrapping back in May, Kerry and Joe coming together is a warm welcome for those itching to get their Scandal fix until it heads back to ABC midseason in 2017.
Washington is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, a tricky aspect of filming the writers of the show cleverly kept under wraps when she was expecting in season three.
As for any potential of a miniature Olivia Pope over the horizon, Washington teased to E! News in June, "As far as I know, we're going to be hiding things. But stay tuned!"
