InstagramAlanis Morissette announced her second pregnancy with a creative video in February, so it comes as no surprise that the singer-songwriter gave her fans a glimpse at her growing baby bump in a similarly artsy fashion. On Tuesday, the 42-year-old musician shared a nude portrait of herself swimming in a pool. Morissette quoted her 5-year-old son Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway in the Instagram photo caption, who said, "You have to be extra gentle around ladies because they are the most helpful people in the world 'cause they make persons."
As she awaits the arrival of Baby No. 2, Morissette has been reading a wide selection of baby books, including Shefali Tsabary's The Awakened Family: A Revolution in Parenting and Hope Gillerman's Essential Oils Every Day: Rituals and Remedies for Healing, Happiness, and Beauty. Morissette is also staying active at home, thanks to the Tracy Anderson: Pregnancy Project DVD.
It's been a blissful few months for Morissette, 42, and husband Mario "Souleye" Treadway, 36. But the singer would be the first to admit that being a wife and mother isn't easy. In her recent column for The Guardian, Morissette wrote, "Both marriage and becoming a parent have their way of growing us up. It is just about whether we kick and scream through the process (or, ultimately, run from it), or submit to it willingly and with a relatively open mind. The choice is yours, and yours alone. Without a deep personal commitment to growing and healing (alone and together with your partner), it is simply not possible to achieve a functional relationship."
