InstagramWhile Peta Murgatroyd was busy cha cha-ing her way to a Dancing With the Stars championship, the ballroom pro was secretly celebrating a personal milestone.
On the heels of her second show win with partner Nyle DiMarco, reports surfaced that the New Zealand native was expecting her first baby with her fiancee, fellow DWTS veteran Maksim Chmerkovskiy. While there were virtually no signs of a baby as the blond beauty spun seamlessly around the dance floor, off-stage life wasn't so smooth.
"I was so sick," Murgatroyd told People of her first months of pregnancy. While the couple told the magazine they weren't planning on starting a family until after their nuptials in 2017, the news is nothing to fret about.
"The timing is perfect, actually," she added. "I'll have the baby in January and then I'll still have about six months to prepare for the wedding."
That wedding is schedule for July 2017 in New York City, the pair confirmed to E! News. The timing is partly to accommodate the couple and their friends' dance rehearsal schedules. "It's a while away, so we've got our location, we've got our date set, and we haven't even started doing the guest list yet, but that can wait a little bit," Peta told E! in early June.
Though there's still a lot of time between now and next summer, it sounds like they've already confirmed their first wedding party member.
"The baby will make a wonderful addition to the wedding party," Chmerkovskiy told People. "A wonderful, tiny addition."
While this baby is already on his or her way to stealing the spotlight at mom's wedding, Maksim is excited to impart some of his own style on his first child.
"I can't wait to provide this baby with the tools to become a beautiful, kind person," he said. "And they'll have the best sneaker collection."
