For those of us of a certain generation, tonight's new episode of Sanjay and Craig is going to hit us right in the nostalgia sweet spot.
The Nickelodeon animated series is taking it back to the 90s with a Nickelodeon GUTS-themed episode, featuring the voice talents of none other than former host Mike O'Malley and his referee sidekick Moira Quirk playing themselves. And wait until you get a look at the animated Aggro Crag. Who among us didn't want to take home a piece of the Crag for ourselves when we were kids? Who?!
In the episode, Sanjay (voiced by Maulik Pancholy) and his anthropomorphic pet snake pal Craig (Chris Hardwick) run into Mike and find themselves convinced to compete in a revived road-show version of the Nick classic. For a sneak peek at the episode, be sure to press play on the video above.
GUTS originally ran on Nickelodeon from 1992 to 1995. In each episode, three young athletes would compete against one another in a series of four "extreme" versions of athletic events, with the whole thing culminating in a fifth and final round that saw the competitors climbing the mammoth Aggro Crag, an artificial mountain that featured strobe light "lightning," foam rock "avalanches," flying "snow" in the form of glitter and confetti, and "nuclear flying crystals." The winner received a gold GUTS medal, as well as a fake glowing piece of the Crag. Oh, and major bragging rights back at school on Monday.
