Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Tony Awards 2016

Last night, the 70th Annual Tony Awards took place at New York's Beacon Theatre. It was extremely monumental, for many reasons: The show started with a somber tribute by James Corden to the victims of the Orlando shooting, Hamilton took home a whopping 11 awards and all four major acting accolades went to black actors.

It was a lot to take in, so it's completely understandable that yet another major development went practically undetected. At the very least, it was certainly glossed over.

And yes, we're talking about the debut of Neil Patrick Harris' new hair. Or rather, his newly nonexistent hair.

The actor, who had a relatively relaxing Tony's this year since he wasn't nominated or hosting, arrived to the event with his husband David Burtka. The two looked, per usual, ever the dapper duo. They seemingly coordinated outfits, donning jet-black tuxedos, with Harris opting for a bow-tie versus Burtka's more traditional accessory.

But what's this, now? Upon closer inspection, we clearly see that Neil is bald. Bald! We're talking shiny-headed, see-your-reflection lack of hair. Gone are all of his adorably flowing toe-headed locks. What say ye, hair gods? Well, it turns out, it's all for a role. Harris is going to be starring in a new Netflix project, the adaptation of the book A Series of Unfortunate Events, that follows three siblings trying to uncover dark family secrets in the wake of the tragic death of their parents.

He'll be playing Count Olaf, who is the tale's villain—he's known for his signature bald head, single eyebrow and ankle tattoo. Which means that not only is the shaved head here to stay for a bit, but we can all collectively look forward to the visuals of seeing Neil Patrick Harris without an eyebrow. Thank you, Netflix.

But no matter the reasoning for the shaved head, what we are truly here to do is discuss this newly made-over NPH. It's always a shock to see celebs stepping out with drastically different 'dos, and this was no exception.

Just look at this dome! He looks like the villain in superhero movie before the steroids kick in. He looks like a personal trainer who is about to scream at us for not doing our burpees correctly. He looks like, well, his name should be Count Olaf. We don't know what this guy has done with the NPH we know and love, but it's going to take some time to get used to this new version.

And we're not alone in our mourning of his beautiful, beautiful locks. Audience members everywhere took to Twitter to express their thoughts on this new look.

According to photos, it seems that NPH went directly from the Tony Awards to Vancouver to continue filming on the Netflix show, so at least we know he's super dedicated to the role that robbed us all of the Neil we knew and loved.

'Til we see you again, Neil's hair.
