As mom of two Bristol Palin mends ties with the father of one of her children, she's cracking down on the other. The former Dancing With the Stars contestant took to the mountains with ex-fiancé and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer for an afternoon of co-parenting daughter Sailor Grace.
"b a b y d a d d y b f f," Palin captioned a black and white selfie of the two cradling the baby on Instagram. The image proves to be an uplifting moment in their tumultuous relationship as they famously got engaged in March 2015 and subsequently called of their wedding just two months later. Seven months after the broken engagement, Palin gave birth to her first daughter.
The former reality star didn't immediately reveal Meyer as the father. By March, however, they had reached a joint custody agreement in court, confirming that Meyer assumed responsibility for the baby as her dad. An Alaskan judge ruled they would share joint legal and physical custody, requiring that the veteran marine travel from Kentucky to Alaska twice a month and stay for four days per visit.
"Every child deserves two loving parents, so I will continue to encourage that no matter what," Palin wrote on Instagram in February. "I have never, and will never, keep them from having a positive relationship with their fathers."
Meanwhile, things are not as smooth with her first ex-fiancé Levi Johnston, who is the father of her first child, son Tripp. While Levi was also recently granted joint custody of the 7-year-old, he owes Palin $61,915 in unpaid child support and needs to pay up, a judge ruled on May 23.
However, this is not news to Johnston, who also has two other children with his wife of four years, Sunny Oglesby.
"Although I do owe some back child support, altogether I have paid $50,000 in child support for Tripp, which is $600 a month, since Tripp's birth so at the end of the day I know I have worked hard to meet my obligations as a father," Johnston wrote on his Facebook page in February.
"Despite what some have heard I've always been there for him, and I go to almost every school event that I can and spend all of my free time with my kids. Right now life is really looking up for our family."
