This may be the last season of The Vampire Diaries. Or maybe not. While talking to reporters about the long-running series, which is now going into its eighth season, The CW boss Mark Pedowitz said no decisions have been made about the fate of the Ian Somerharlder and Paul Wesley drama from Julie Plec.

"No decisions have been made for one way or another whether or not this is the final season," Pedowitz said. "In my dreams it isn't." There has also been no decision made regarding the show's episode count.

The Vampire Diaries is sticking on Fridays, but it's vampire spinoff The Originals is being held for midseason. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, starring Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom, is paired with TVD this fall. "We believe [TVD] will give an extra push for…Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," Pedowitz said in regards to the supernatural drama's strength in female viewers. However, that doesn't mean the network has given up on The Originals. "We still believe quite a lot in The Originals, and we wanted to have Crazy Ex on in the fall…[We] made a choice to come in with The Originals midseason and further boost the strength across the board," he said.

Regarding Supergirl, The CW's big acquisition from CBS, Pedowitz said talks happened about a week and a half ago between the parent companies who were supportive across the board for the move. In terms of changes to the show, there's nothing official to announce yet, but Pedowitz is sitting down with executive producer Greg Berlanti and his team soon, but there's a rough idea about where the show is heading for season two. "We're pretty confident they understand what our needs are," he said. "They did have a pretty successful series, the fact that it moved to The CW, where it should've been in the first place, I don't think it'll have an actual effect on what they do."

Supergirl stars a big ensemble cast with Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart toplining. According to Pedowitz, there are ongoing talks with Flockhart about remaining with the series as Cat Grant, Kara's (Benoist) boss. The show is moving production from Los Angeles to Vancouver for season two. "We're happy to have her in whatever capacity is worked out," he said.

And with four DC Comics shows on The CW, all of them filmed in Vancouver, you can expect the biggest superhero crossover yet with Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash and Arrow later this year on The CW.

For those holding out hopes for a Supernatural spinoff, don't hold your breath just yet. Pedowitz said if producers have "an idea to do a spinoff again, we are open to listen to it."
