The Olympic swimming champion and his fiancée, winner of the Miss California USA 2010 pageant, this week welcomed their first child, a baby boy. Michael announced the happy news Saturday on his Instagram page, alongside a photo of him cradling his newborn son as Johnson watches from a bed.
"Welcome Boomer Robert Phelps into the world!!!" he wrote. "Born 5-5-2016 at 7:21 pm !!! Healthy and happy!!!"
"Best feeling I have ever felt in my life!!!," he added. "@nicole.m.johnson and Boomer both healthy!!! #boomerphelps."
In March, Michael and Johnson celebrating their upcoming arrival at two separate baby showers. His was cowboy-themed and was attended by several of his buddies, while she and her best girl friends had a traditional shower.
The two got engaged in February 2015. Johnson announced her pregnancy nine months later and also revealed they were expecting a baby boy.
