KFC Hong Kong is taking the brand's finger lickin' good slogan literally.
What do we mean? Well, they've created a line of edible nail polish that tastes like fried chicken. Per AdWeek, Ogilvy & Mather worked with food technologists at McCormick (the spice company that provides KFC's secret mix of herbs and spices) to create nail polishes based on two KFC favorite recipes, Original Recipe and Hot & Spicy.
"To use, consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick—again and again and again," the brand said in a statement. obtained by AdWeek. (We told you they took the finger lickin' good tagline literally.)
We had our doubts, too, this "is actually a real thing," Anna Mugglestone, marketing and communications director for Ogilvy & Mather Group in Hong Kong, told the New York Times.
"I tried it myself in the office when they were doing testing," she said. "It tastes like chicken...It's crazy. I don't know how they do it."
KFC Hong Kong is making limited qualities of both Original Recipe and Hot & Saucy flavored polishes, and they're asking consumers to vote for which variety they would prefer to be mass produced.
In the meantime, KFC Hong Kong has created an online music video (see above) to promote the finger lickin' good new polishes. Even without a Colonel Sanders cameo or a single piece of fried chicken to be seen, it's intriguing, to say the least.
On a mildly related note, watch Chrissy Teigen break down her favorite fast food items in the video below.
