Everybody knows President Barack Obama had his drop the mic moment at the 2016 White House Correspondents' Dinner, and now "Verdict" was The Good Wife's. At least until the finale next week.

"Verdict" was basically the fire emoji for 44 minutes. It was everything I have ever loved about The Good Wife. Julianna Margulies was on her A-game (when isn't she?), the guest cast was aces and there were enough gasp-worthy and endearing moments to shake a stick at. That's the saying, right?

Anyway, Peter Florrick was put on trial for that whole Lloyd Garber deal. Everybody (but Matt Czuchry really, but he did have a nice scene with Margulies) had really meaty stuff to play with. Christine Baranski got to tear it up in court looking fabulous (that phoenix brooch though). Margulies, Chris Noth and Michael J. Fox got plenty of moments to shine too. Cush Jumbo got to be the best friend you always wanted, the one who can talk to your boyfriend when he's being foolish.

Where was this Good Wife earlier this season? I digress. It came to light that Geneva Pine could really hurt Peter. Why? She is lashing out because he ended their long-term affair! (!!!) Apparently everybody knew. Louis Canning took the info to an unsurprised Alicia (Jason didn't share it with her) and their interaction was the best.

"What? Do you want me to cry Mr. Canning? [Fake crying] Oh my god, I thought my husband no longer cheated," Alicia said.

"God, I love you," he (and viewers everywhere probably) said.

"I know," she responded.

It was the best thing. Side not: The other great scene this episode involved David Lee bursting into Diane's office as she wooed people with her all-female led firm and he referred to a woman as a "bitch." What will our lives be like without little David Lee moments?

Alicia didn't care if they went to Geneva's motive, she's over it, obviously. Peter did not. Then they prepped Peter for the witness stand as a way to hash out all their issues. So many issues. It was great.

In an attempt to bolster the defense, Diane drafted Kurt…but it backfired and he ended up looking terrible (thanks to Lucca and Megan Hilty). The scene where Diane crawled into bed next to him and apologized—I would only know that was fake love because they're acting. Fans always wanted more with these two, but I think having it so mysterious and only getting glimpses made the Kurt/Diane relationship all the more magical.

While all this happened, the law offices were destroyed—by mistake—and David Lee started getting even saltier about the whole female-led firm. Jumbo had a lot to say about the walls coming down in the video below.

On the Alicia/Jason front, she said she hasn't quite reconciled him wanting to be with her, but untethered at the same time. He thinks she won't divorce Peter if he goes to prison. She even told Peter later in the episode that she would go visit him in prison…so that makes me think the series will end with Alicia running off with Jason. Would the writers do that? The Good Wife is over, so she's no longer the good wife?

The episode was titled "Verdict," but viewers never got one. Peter told Alicia he would take the plea deal of two years, but the verdict came back…and the screen faded to black.

Gasp count: Two.

Some other things:

Did the series finale promo make anybody else teary?

"God, I look good with a gun." - Diane

"Can I make a confession?" - Peter
"Sure." - Alicia
"I don't like wine." - Alicia

He said he only drank it because of her, but it's grown on him.

Did anybody else think, just for a moment, Kalinda was texting Alicia when she received the "Guess who?" text? You can admit it. I did. I thought, "They did it. The Good Wife pulled off the impossible again and surprised fans." I'd welcome it. Even if it was CGIed. Or a phone call. Maybe in the rumored Josh Charles/Will Gardner flashback we get next week?

It's all over next week. The Good Wife series finale airs Sunday, May 8 on CBS.
